In 1960 Lloyd Voss built Voss's Chain O'Lakes Marina. Lloyd and his wife, Carole operated the marina from 1960 until 1972. In 1973, they sold the marina Bill Hibberd from Waukegan, Illinois. In 1977, the marina was sold to Greer Fitzgerald from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a summer resident since 1964, and the marina became known as Greer's Pier.

Originally, Greer's Pier was just a small store and shop, approximately 2,000 sq. ft. size. Over the years Greer's Pier Marina has grown into a modern full service marina. It's present size is 22,000 sq. ft., with a marine repair and service facility, deli, store, gas dock, and indoor storage facility.
